Here is this month's issue:

March 2010

March 2010...Jonas Holdsworth has been exploring our Tudor and Georgian heritage and spotlights some of the great buildings our ancestors constructed (page 18). Meanwhile, Julie Frankland has been on a tour of the Ribble Valley, stopping off at some of the major places and attractions in this lovely part of our region (page 28). Hands up all those who can name a Lancashire pyramid or indeed were even aware any actually existed. Well, we have more of these structures than you might think and all is revealed on page 36. Much more familiar are our town halls and we have some of the most magnificent examples of municipal buildings in the country. We focus on them on page 62. Rufford Old Hall is well worth a visit but this time we concentrate on the gardens of this stately pile. Michael Edwards photographed them for us last spring and his pictures appear starting on page 90. We visit Kendal’s successful Brewery Theatre, spotlight the campaign to save a much loved Hesketh Bank pub, raise a glass to a Blackpool institution and take a nostalgic look at Bolton holidaymakers in the 1930s. All this and much, much more for £1.95. Why pay more? Anthony Skinner Editorial Director
